About the mod

Villager Names gives all unnamed villagers a pre-defined name. This will name old and new spawns in the world. The mod contains a list of 5000+ names, one of which will be randomly chosen whenever an unnamed villager is detected. The profession of the villager is also visible on the trade screen. You can also use your own custom name lists, see below. There are various config options available to determine what should and shouldn't be shown on the villager trade screen. Professions will be localized in the game language.

The mod can also name modded villagers! Let me know if you've found a villager-like entity that's not named so I can add it to the list. You can also add it yourself with the 'extraEntityTypesToName' config option, or stop entities from being named with 'entityTypesToIgnore'.

useCustomNamesĀ Ā default true
Use the custom name list, editable in ./config/serilum/villagernames/customnames.txt, seperated by a comma. If custom names are found, the default name list is ignored.

useDefaultFemaleNamesĀ Ā default true
Use the list of pre-defined female names when naming villagers.

useDefaultMaleNamesĀ Ā default true
Use the list of pre-defined male names when naming villagers.

useBothCustomAndDefaultNamesĀ Ā default false
Disabled by default. Whether both custom and default names should be used to name villagers. Custom names will probably not be chosen often due to the amount of default names.

nameModdedVillagersĀ Ā default true
If enabled, also gives modded villagers a name. If you've found a 'villager'-entity that isn't named let me know by opening an issue so I can add it in.

extraEntityTypesToNameĀ Ā default ""
A comma-separated list of entity ids that are also given a name, next to the villagers the mod already names. Use '<modid>:' to name every entity of a mod.

entityTypesToIgnoreĀ Ā default ""
A comma-separated list of entity ids that are never given a name by this mod, even when they are a (modded) villager. Use '<modid>:' to skip every entity of a mod.

showProfessionOnTradeScreenĀ Ā default true
Whether the profession should be added to the villager's trade screen next to their name.

switchNameAndProfessionTradeScreenĀ Ā default false
If enabled, switches the name and profession on the villager trading screen. Result: <profession> - <name>.

hideMerchantLevelTradeScreenĀ Ā default false
Whether the merchant level (novice, apprentice etc.) should be hidden on the trade screen.

shouldCapitalizeNamesĀ Ā default true
If enabled, the mod capitalizes each word in the custom name list.




Commands

/villagernames unname - Removes the names of all loaded villagers.
/villagernames name - Gives all unnamed loaded villagers a name.
/villagernames rename - Gives all loaded villagers a new random name.




Description

Version 2.0 adds custom name lists:
When first loading the mod, it'll create a file in your .minecraft folder in /config/serilum/villagernames/ called "customnames.txt".


You can add as many names as you want to this list. Just make sure they're separated by a comma (the new line is not necessary).Ā Make sure that "useCustomNames" in the config is enabled.
